About Me

Allow me to re-introduce myself…

Jamila is a digital communications expert, opinion writer, and NYU adjunct professor who believes narrative and storytelling carry fundamental keys to liberation. Her work and activism have spanned the globe for over a decade. From Cuba to South Africa to Palestine, she works as a bridge between the Global North and South in honor of her Caribbean and Latin American heritage.

Prior to consulting, Jamila was the Director of Communications for SumOfUs and led a multilingual (English, Spanish, French, and German) global movement against corporate power and spearheaded an international team of communicators. Jamila’s passion for strategy and capacity building led her to work as a consultant with organizations around the world building digital communication tools and plans that create fundamental change. She is also a gifted communication trainer and educator who believes in building capacity and knowledge among the next generation of radical communicators. Jamila is also the founder of HUE Global, a digital communications agency that creates bold campaigns throughout the African diaspora.

Jamila was educated as a political economist studying International Relations at Emory and American University and fell in love with communications through her work with Afro-descendant and indigenous communities in Latin America.
